Types of Blog Posts That Can Drive Traffic to Your Blog in 2020

Sharing is caring!

Every blogger wants to attract maximum traffic to their blog.

Rightly so.

Because without adequate traffic, your blog and your identity will remain hidden in obscurity and every effort you exert, every resource you invest, would go waste.

If you’re a blogger, the question about what types of blog posts can drive traffic to your blog in 2020 or how to drive traffic to your blog will definitely be on top of your thoughts.

Therefore, with my experience as a blogger and content writer, I’ll share some tips on how to drive traffic to your blog.

Let’s start by understanding why blog posts matter so much in 2020 and will continue so beyond.

Importance of Blogposts in 2020 and Beyond

Blogposts or content as it’s also known as, is the undisputed king of every blog and website. You could be an expert digital marketer and know every process.

Yet without content, all these skills are useless. Because you require blogposts or content to perform these digital marketing processes such as Search Engine Optimization and Social Media Marketing, among others.

Secondly, the year 2019 was a record one for newspapers. That’s because no newspaper anywhere in the world sold more than a million copies, according to London-based organization, Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC).

One of the prime reasons for this decline in newspaper readerships was the shift of readers from traditional sources of news to blogs.

In fact, a lot of newspapers and news websites around the world engage in publishing paid news that is biased for or against some entity.

Thirdly, more than 90 percent of online shoppers claim, they read blogs about a product or service, during the initial phases of the buying process.

That’s because they depend on honest reviews from blogs rather than advertisements that are one-sided.

There’re countless reasons why blogposts are gaining importance in 2020.

How To Drive Traffic to Your Blog in 2020

how to drive traffic to your blog

This brings us to the vital question: What type of blogposts do people wish to read?

Or, you can wonder:

What’re the types of blog posts that you should post on your blog and which process needs to be followed after posting it to attract the highest possible traffic?

There’re no simple answers because your blog would be catering to a specific niche in which you’re an expert or have some skill.

That’s the very precious reason you choose your website niche. Therefore, I will answer these questions in a rather generic manner.

However, these answers can be easily adapted to suit your requirements.

The Covid-19 pandemic is an eye-opener for the world. A lot of myths and beliefs are going bust and people are adopting newer lifestyles due to the need for social distancing, self-isolation, and home quarantine, among others.

There’s anxiety everywhere about what’s happening around that can further impact one’s life adversely or positively.

The human intelligence fails when it comes to answering when the Covid-19 pandemic will end.

Till it ends, people will be looking at reading blogs on trending topics.

By trending topics, I’m not implying that you write countless articles on Covid-19 pandemic itself.

Search for Google Trends.

You’ll find lots of trending topics that are directly related to the pandemic but don’t talk about the contagion or virus itself.

Instead, these trending topics are about job scenarios, salary revisions, healthcare products, and issues, tourism during pandemic, food, and fitness, to name a few.

One might have expected that the demand for such online content or blogposts would nosedive due to the pandemic.

In stark contrast, the demand has risen by at least 25 percent over the last six months.

From March to May 2020, there was a 23 percent increase in the demand for blog posts and content around the world due to Covid-19.

2. Reviews & Affiliate Blog posts

Depending on which source of information you believe, between 60 percent and 90 percent of all online shoppers read blogposts and reviews when they decide to buy something.

That’s because they look for honest and simple, easy-to-understand reviews about a product or service rather than depending upon information provided by the company.

In fact, most online marketers claim that blogs accounted for over 80 percent of their inbound traffic and more than 90 percent of such leads converted as sales.

Therefore, one more type of content that you should definitely include on your blog to drive more traffic in 2020 are reviews and affiliate blog-posts.

The eCommerce industry in India is projected to cross the $250 billion mark by 2020 end, reports online marketplace provider, Shopify.com.

Strong evidence of this is that Shopify, an American company, is boosting its presence in India.

And eCommerce giant Amazon has already announced it would pump in billions of US Dollars to further bolster India operations.

Honest and easy to understand reviews not only help drive traffic to your site, they will also help earn a lot of money through affiliate marketing.

Therefore, include affiliate blog-posts as part of your blogging strategy to gather higher traffic.

3. Work from Home Jobs & Businesses

Unfortunately, millions of people working for businesses small and large are now unemployed due to the havoc on the national economy wrought by the Covid-19 pandemic and unplanned, abrupt lockdown imposed on the nation overnight.

While migrant laborers were stranded at different locations across the country, professionals and qualified persons also couldn’t return home despite losing jobs due to the economic downturn.

Such qualified and experienced professionals are now reluctant to leave home and relocate for jobs elsewhere.

As an aftermath, such qualified and skilled persons are now looking for work from home jobs and businesses.

They look for employment that doesn’t require them to leave home and can enable them to earn a decent income by working online.

Hence, such blog-posts that speak about work from home jobs and business opportunities, best practices, insights into the world of freelancing, and related ones would surely attract a lot of traffic in 2020 and beyond.

India is home to the second largest freelance workforce in the world. Over 20 million Indians make money from the gig economy.

You can help boost India’s gig economy by encouraging more and more people to take freelance work through your blog-posts in 2020.

There’s no shortage of topics that you can write on this subject alone.

4. Interviews with Healthcare Professionals

India continues to witness several cases where people scared of Covid-19 consume hand sanitizers and methyl alcohol in the hope of circumventing the contagion.

Others resort to even more drastic measures resulting in permanent disability or death.

That’s because the Covid-19 pandemic ushered in an era of widespread misinformation caused by rumors circulating on social media and instant messaging platforms.

In fact, the volume of misinformation spread by Nazi Germany during World War-2 pales in comparison to the extent it’s proliferating during Covid-19 pandemic.

As responsible blogger, you can dispel such myths, rumors and misinformation by writing blog posts based upon interviews with healthcare professionals.

Since nobody has accurate information about the virus, you can focus on writing interviews that deal with issues such as overcoming stress due to the pandemic, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, nutrition, and exercise, among others.

Such a blog-post based on reliable information from qualified and experienced healthcare professionals such as psychiatrists, virologists, nutritionists and dieticians, fitness trainers, and Yoga experts among others, would help attract a lot of readers to your blog and surge your traffic exponentially.

5. Infotainment Posts for Everyone

A blog post doesn’t necessarily have to be about something that people should act upon.

Though lots of digital marketers extol virtues of actionable blog posts, I beg to differ on this ground.

In 2020 and beyond, with educational activities taking a body blow, you can write interesting, engaging blog posts that inform and educate people about different things in the world.

For example, there’re countless things about India that aren’t a mystery. Yet, few people know they exist.

Also, people are curious to know about things they use daily but don’t really venture out to learn more because the information isn’t readily available.

You would surely find countless such topics from a blog post within your chosen niche.

Such informative and educational blogposts have universal appeal.

They’ll be read by Indians as well as foreigners in their respective country while looking for information about this country.

They’re relevant to people of all ages.

With a little research, you can create wonderful blogposts that provide accurate information and educate a person.

In fact, longer hours online and at home tempts people to seek online infotainment.

And this is the right time to create and provide such blog posts to drive traffic to your blog.

More Suggestions to Drive Traffic to Your Blog

One more topic that I found attracts people in 2020 is spirituality.

That’s because India is a land where people from different faiths dwell in near-perfect harmony.

As a result, there’s confusion about spirituality and religion and often the two create a heady but enigmatic mix.

Conclusion

Try adapting the above ideas to suit your niche in blogging.

I’m confident you’ll be able to create enough interesting and engaging blog posts.

Schedule them properly and use superb pictures and headlines to drive traffic to your blog in 2020. I hope now you have to learn how to drive traffic to your blog writing amazing blog posts.
